Lorraine Arnold, as the principal owner of NY House Histories, researches the social, economic, and structural history of buildings.
Lorraine received her Jurisprudence BA (magna cum laude) from Montclair State University and studied Grant Writing for Historic Preservation, American Architecture, and Researching Your House's History through the Preservation Program at Drew University. She has completed the National Historic Landmarks Program qualifying her to assist in the research and writing of a nomination. Lorraine holds a real estate license in New Jersey and has extended her education in the field to include the Real Estate Board of New York's Real Estate Master's Seminar Series and various commercial real estate courses. |

She is a member of the Society of Architectural Historians, National Historic Trust, New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, along with many other genealogy, legal, preservation, and historic organizations. Lorraine has written articles for various trade magazines, books for private owners, researched for real estate companies as well as individual agents, and has spoken on house histories in New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. |
Lorraine assists professionals and private owners on a case-by-case basis according to needs including support for planning applications, materials for real estate marketing, or just for the curious home owner to have a complete understanding of the history of their home.
For properties currently on the market, Lorraine develops stories using documented sourced information unique to the building. Aside from including the stories on the blog Building Chronicles, Lorraine produces materials which can be used at open houses and for targeted mailings. The material is also available as a PDF download highlighting the architectural, economic and social history of the property.
